I ♥ Crochet ShawlsI made this sweet one for my little miss 10
Being a shorter shawl it is quite versatile and she loves experimenting with ways to wear it, I must admit I enjoyed doing the same when I was photographing it :)
For the body of the shawl I used a pattern I found on Ravelry by Sharon Maher

The shawl is called 'It's just a triangle' and is a fantastic shawl for a beginner.
You can find the pattern on
Ravelry and on Laughing Purple Goldfish
Sharon has provided an Excellent tutorial :)

For the edging I wanted something very feminine and pretty
and I was recently given some of
my Nannas & Andrew's Grandmas crochet books - what a joy!
Most of them are lovely old Australian and English patterns.
I found the pattern for the edging in a very old Myart book
Crochet Edges by Myart 7th Edition Book No.2
(If you click on the pattern it will make it larger)
I found the pattern terms are in UK/Australian terms and they are slightly different to what I am used to...But easy enough to work out.
d = dc UK/Australian (sc US)
Ltr = dtr UK/Australian (tr US)
For this shawl I used Paton's Australia Sorrento yarn & a 4.5mm hook :)

Hope you are having a lovely day

Absolutely amazing. Such a beautiful shawl. The white gives it a very delicate look, together with the perfect edging. Great job. And don't you just love old crochet books??
ReplyDeleteLovely. Creative. Little Miss 10 will feel like a princess wearing it.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Especially that edging. Now I'm wanting to make one too...
ReplyDeleteLOVE! What size of hook did you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everyone for your lovely comments,
ReplyDeleteMariah - I used a 4.5mm hook :)
Gillian
what kind & size of yard did you use?
ReplyDeleteHi Mariah,
ReplyDeleteI used Patons Australia Sorrento Yarn, It is a Sport/5 ply with a slub (62% Rayon, 38% Cotton)
& a 4.5mm hook.
hope this helps, Gillian :)
This is quite beautiful! It is so delicate, compared with the versions on Ravelry, which use heavier yarns. I think your edging is gorgeous.
