DCM weekly dare - Strictly Monochrom

Great Dare for you at
After the sunshine comes the rainbow! But this is red OR yellow OR pink OR green...This week you can do ANYTHING you like on a card BUT you can only use one colour.
I (Lythan) have been very strict with the team and quite frankly enjoy the power when they come begging to be allowed to use just a hint of one other colour. I did in the end allow black for the sentiment particularly if you do an all white card. But the real idea is to have fun with just one colour and see just what variation there is.
Oh this was a fun dare, thanks Lythan, a bit of a challenge, but heh! that's what it's all about isn't it.. so here is my take on this weeks dare, you can call it Sea Green I think....
So Sea Blue bits that I've used are - Bazzill Cardstock, Making Memories PP, Making Memories metal clip {oh I love these}, Heidi Swapp Blossom {inked with Versa Colour ink pad}, Ribbon from Spotlight, Cloud 9 Chipboard letters, EK Success Alpha Stamps, and My sewing Machine loaded with matching thread.
Be sure to pop over to the DCM blog and check out the rainbow over there, it's beautiful!
So what colour will you use to create with this week....
Come on I DARE you!!!!!!!

DCM little extra - *Sunshine*

It's little extra time at Daring Card Makers
this time we'd like to give you just one single word as your inspiration, and that word is: *SUNSHINE*
UR the Sunshine of My Life.... sing it with me... gosh that song got stuck in my head while I made this card.. so this is my take on *SUNSHINE*.. I wonder what your take will be..
Sunshine bits on this card are - Bazzill Cardstock, Stella Ruby PP, making memories chipboard frame -green, Bella Chipboard letters, Basic Grey Wooden disc, Metal Label holder, dymo tape, black brads, screw brads, black embossing powder, & you guessed it my sewing machine...
Oh I came up with something pretty cool for this card, well I think it is anyway.. with the UR... I stamped them with Versa Mark Watermark stamp pad, then sprinkled a very small amount of black embossing powder onto the chipboard letters, I didn't want them to be to dark, and love this 'grungy' look...
But Wait there's more........

I know, don't know what came over me...just had to make another..

and here tis... a little bit different from the first LOL!

Bits that Get your attention on this card are - Bazzill Cardstock, Really Big Prima Flower, Heidi Swapp Blossom, Urban Lily cardstock flower & Chipboard Circle, making memories Chipboard flower & frame cut in half, Label holder, making memories crystal brads, ink pad & pigment pen, and ofcourse my sewing machine..

DCM weekly dare - Twins or more

This week at Daring Card Makers
it was our Keryn turn to set the Dare.
Doesn't there seem to be more and more multiple births around at the moment. Or perhaps I'm just noticing as a member of my family is due to deliver twins in September this year. Your dare for this week is to create a card using any technique, any style, to welcome the birth of multiples. If you keep the card long enough there is bound to be someone you know having twins or more to send it to.
Hmmmm.... this was a toughy... decided to go with twin boy theme.. not sure why, don't know anyone having twin boys just the colours appealed to me..
My card is actually just resting on another piece of Teal PP so the flower that overhangs the card shows up.
One little trick I've picked up from Godelieve's blog is to use a white gel pen to colour in the stamped image. so that's what I've done with the storks on this card, I really like this effect so thanks for that Godelieve.
Joyful bits I've used on this card are - Treasures Cardstock, Kelly Panacci PP,
PSX Stamp - D-3305, Me & My Big Ideas Chipboard stickers, American Crafts Ribbon, Making Memories charm & jumpring, Heidi Swapp Blossom, Computer Generated Sentiment, White gel pen, Teal Texta, & my sewing machine.
So have you Dared to DARE yet?........ Come on I DARE You!!!!!!!

DCM little extra

For this weeks little Extra at
We have a Themed Little Extra this week. A little encouragement to make those cards you usually have to make in a hurry - see how we like to help you?
So this time we'd like you to make "Get Well Soon" type cards. That's it - nothing too tricky or complicated this week, just a little nudge in the "Be Prepared" direction.
Well with my take on this weeks little extra I did have a great plan for a fun get well card, but I'll hang onto that card for another time....
This is a special card for someone I know that has a terminal illness,
so instead of a 'get well soon' card,
it's more of a 'to comfort you in your illness' card.
Sometimes when it comes to card making you have to follow what
you feel lead to create, and this is just such a card!....
bits I've used to make this card are - Cardstock, PP - unknown, Making Memories circle Frame, Making Memories Ribbon, Safety Pin & jumpring, heart charm, strip journaling computer generated, and the lace flower & brad left overs from my
So have you Dared to DARE yet?....... COME ON I DARE YOU!!!!!

Happy Birthday today to my Georgia...
she is 6 today, lot's of celebrating in our home today

DCM Weekly Dare - How Random

This week at Daring Card Makers
the fantastic Kel has set a brilliant dare that is a real challenge.
Firstly make a list of 10-20 crafty items you have in your stash, whether it be brads, ribbons, peel-off's, craft robo, dies, stamps, glittter, buttons, flowers, patterned papers, paint...
You get the idea!
Give them all a number or print them out a sheet and pop them in a hat all folded up.
Next, ask someone non-crafty to pick 3-5 of your numbers or pieces of paper from your from your hat.
Finally, make a card using ONLY the items chosen. A card blank, some sort of sticky stuff and your basic craft tools are allowed If you want to make it really challenging, list plenty of items that you haven't used in a while, or thought you may never use again!
So what went into my draw.... I hear you ask.....
metal embellishments...Ribbons...acrylic stamps...cuttlebug templates...Paper tabs...Doodling...Paint...Dymo Tape...Stickers...Vintage Images...Eyelets...Brads...Tags...Chipboard...Flowers...Rubber Stamps...Buttons...
And I was quite comfortable with the bits Jacob pulled out for me..
Chipboard, Flowers, Rubber Stamps & Buttons..
I threw in printed paper but made myself only use a tiny little bit...
and Well Cardstock..but you'll all be using that too..
Random bits for this card are - Treasures Cardstock,Hero Arts Bold Floral Pattern Stamp, Catslife Press Doll Face Stamp, Heidi Swapp Blossoms, Maya Road Chipboard label holder, Vintage Button from my yummy collection, Versa Color Ink Pad - 104 Lagoon Blue, Versa magic Ink Pad - Jumbo Java (label holder rubbed over with this), a little bit of Basic Grey Printed paper & My Sewing machine..

DCM's Weekly Dare - Out of the Comfort Zone....

This week at Daring Card Makers it was our Bondgirl aka Tracie turn to dare you all. "I looked at my cards last week and thought hmm they are ok but they are all very similar - white square card, double matted embellishment, printed greeting. Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with doing what you are good at, I bet we all have our "signature" ranges but I realised what a wealth of techniques and styles I wasnt trying. So this week I dare you to step outside your comfort zone and have a go at something new - be it something you have never tried, or something you havent done for ages".

Oh man when I saw what Tracie dared us to do this week.... a cold sweat come over Me! I had a lookie at what I normally do... it struck me that I never use white cardstock, I rarely use rectangle cards, have never used white ribbon on anything, and esp never combine any of the before mentioned...I always use lots of Printed paper, lots of embellishments... lots of coloured cardstock and always, always, always... SQUARE cards.....

So with this knowlege I set about to create my 'out of MY comfort Zone' card.... and here it is... This card is actually all white, I've just got it sitting on a pink bit of paper for the photo.

We were also asked to discribe how it felt to make a card 'out of our comfort zone'... I've gotta say to start with I felt a bit grumpy...not being able to play with all my fav things... But when I started playing, it kinda felt fun, and even thrilling... like making my very first card all over again... and you know I even liked it when I was finished... LOL!!!!!

Go and check out what the other girls have come up with....This dare really stretched us all I think, so thanks heaps Tracie.. it was fun...

So Have you DARED to DARE Yet?.... COME ON I DARE YOU!!!!!

Oh almost forgot, the reason I'm posting this late is we've been away for the weekend.. my Father In Law's 70th B'day, Remember the card... he loved it... and had a wonderful chuckle at the bible verse used...and was particularly taken by the farming newsprint Printed Paper...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PA....
