Tagged Again.......

OK, Kathy Tagged me.... and you can find her version of this tag on her blog, her's is quite amusing...

1. Find the nearest book- Okie Dokie... it was easy to grab, it was on my sewing table next to My PUTA

2. Name the book & the author - At home Scrapbooking with Faye Morrow Bell

Turn to page 123. - Hmmm... this book only goes to pg120 and that's a page for writting notes, so without looking I'll go to pg87

4. Go to the 5th sentence on the page & copy out the next three sentences onto your blog. - In February 2003, Tyler and I took Grandma Z home from the hospital when she was discharged after her ankle surgery. Tyler has been fascinated with hospitals and doctors since. Whenever she gets the slightest bump or scrape, she'll say, 'I need to go to Mommy Z's hospital."

5. Tag 3 more people. - So if you want to have a go at this consider yourself tagged!....

I only just got this book out again the other day hadn't looked at it for a while.. I really love Faye Morrow Bell's style...
and haven't really noticed her around in the mags lately...
I wonder if she has a blog... does anyone know?...
If you do I'd love you to let me know...
I hope you are having a great weekend.. TTFN Gillian :o)

DCM's Weekly Dare - 20/20 Vision....

This week at Daring Card Makers it's our Kathy's Turn to set the dare and a beauty it is too, The dare is to use 20/20 Vision for your cards. We'd like you to use 20 of one particular thing on a card - be it blooms, papers, brads, ribbons the choice is yours - you can use other things too, but there must be 20 of one item/component - not 20 things altogether, that would be too easy. For instance, can you use 20 different papers on one card? 20 Ribbons?Or 20 Blooms - well surely that one sounds easy...
Have you worked it out?.... it's 20 lengths of stitching.... Well Stitching is really a big part of my design work.. and I thougth I'd see if I could fit 20 different lengths of stitching into my card and I did... 1 length (no stopping, so it counts as 1 length) around the top, side & bottom of spotted PP, 2 lengths top & bottom of the scolloped PP, 6 lengths of stitching in the mauve flower, 10 lengths of stitching in the orange flower, & 1 circle length of stitching in the little flower... there you have it 20 length's of stitching...
Pretty bits I've used to make Jenny's B'day card are - Bazzill Cardstock, Chatterbox PP,
Heidi Swapp Blossom, Making Memories Chipboard flowers,
Basic Grey - Holly Cow Rub-On, sei buttons, brad,
and ofcourse can't do 20 lengths of stitching without my sewing machine now can I....
so have you Dared To DARE yet....... COME ON I DARE YOU!!!!!

I Love this LO :o)

Just had my latest copy of For Keeps arrive at my home... and surprise, surprise my all time fav LO is in it.... Issue 52 pg 121... it's always a buzz to see something you make in a mag...
Unfortunately when the photo was taken for the mag the pages are the wrong way around..... so I had a great chuckle... because it read 'Believe in their little girls daddys always'... oh well I think everyone who looks at it will work out it's around the wrong way... Have a happy day!

As usual some of the Design Team have made some cards to help get you thinking:

DCM's Weekly Dare - In the Fold

It was our Jane's turn this week to set the dare at Daring Card Makers... and what a great dare indeed!... Our's and your dare for this week is to Make a card that has to have more than one fold- so it can be a gate fold, or 3 panel card with an aperture or a card with multiple folds OR you can incorporate paper folding on the actual card itself.
It can be any theme Easy eh?!

Well here is my take on Jane's dare...it's a little thankyou card... it's only 4x4"... which I have found is a really fun size..But the cardstock I used to make this card was actually, 4x12"....
I started off with a long strip, tore a piece of Printed paper the lenght of approx 11/2"wide and ofcourse it was 12" long.. Adhered the PP to the cardstock... then stitched around my large retangle.. the next step was to put 3 folds at the end I had chosen to be the front of the card.
Once folded and pressed into a good crease I stitched the folds down. across each fold and then just embellished.

Well I am actually at the
Scrap A While Retreat this weekend.... and no doubt enjoying myself... I have actually typed this up before I left... and have my wonderful husband to thank for posting this Dare on my blog.... So round of Applause for Andrew!!!!!!!.... not just for posting this dare... but for being so wonderful and letting me go away for the whole weekend to be inspired by many other wonderful ladies... all at our creative best!!!
altho I'm sure a little sleep deprived!
I'll catch up with you all real soon... TTFN Gillian :o)
So have you Dared to DARE Yet!!!!.... COME ON I DARE YOU!!!!!

Tiny Tiles

Oh this was such a fun Swap, I've just been involved with... over at Tammy's Blog
these little tiles look tiny cause they really are!.. each one is only one & a half inches square..
so it was loads of fun finding embellishments small enough to fit each one... Everyone in this swap had given a design brief of what they wanted their tile's theme to be.. We used 'Collections Tiles' which come in a sheet and you just pop them out...
Anyway these are the tiles I have made for the swap... & if you're in the swap.... have fun guessing till yours comes... ;o)
Thanks again Tammy, I'm sure it was tons of work to organise this, and am very grateful and can't wait to get my little tiles back... I am going to frame them together and hang in my craft space... Oh by the way incase your wondering ..... My theme was RUSTY OLD JUNK..... LOL

DCM's little extra - 1970's lives on!

Now, for our extra little dare this week at Daring Card Maker's we thought it would be fun to step back in time and make a card inspired by a particular decade - so we'd like you to think "the 70s" - remember all that brown and orange wallpaper? Flower Power? Hippy Chicks through to the beginnings of Punk Rock? It was all there - and if you haven't a clue what we're on about - well the internet is a wonderful thing for finding out!
Oh what fun I was born in 1970... what a great year that was....well at least I hope so... you might just have to ask my mum & dad.... LOL!!!
Hippy Hippy Groovey Chicky bits for this card are - Basic Grey PP, Heidi Swapp Blossoms, cardstock, Paper Flowers, gorgeous retro orange ribbon, 3L photo corners, epoxy letter stickers, brad & yes I sewed through the ribbon with my machine... I hope this takes you back to great times... I know the 70's for me were all about fun... TTFN Gillian :o)

DCM's weekly Dare - All Things Media

This week at DCMs You are being Dared to make a card that is inspired by 'All Things Media'. The dare was my first time to set the dare...
I've gotta tell you it's a nerve raking business...
It's around us no matter which way we turn, and all designed to get our attention. Ads designed by graphic designers who know all the tricks & techniques to draw our eyes to the product in question. You only have to glance at a Newspaper quickly to read headings with 'Shock' titles & 'Clever' puns all designed to make you want to read what the article is all about!Maybe you have been inspired by an Ad in a magazine, the colours or design that has been used. Or incorporate actual magazines & newspapers onto your card; maybe chop up letters (ransom note style) to create the sentimentSo grab that latest edition of your favourite Mag, or pick up your newspaper, because there is so much inspiration there, Just waiting for you to discover!

OK, so I've gotta admit this is a bit of a naughty card.... My Father In Law is turning 70 next month, and this ones for him.... He is a retired farmer (thus the farming newspaper), Has a very good sense of humour, and know's his bible through and through... So when I asked Andrew to help me choose something for the strip journaling on this one... Ofcourse he wanted it to be THREE SCORE & TEN... and he found this reference in the bible there for him too...
Psalm 90:10 reads - The length of our days is seventy years - or eighty, if we have the strength. I hope he laughs as much as Andrew & I did when we found this verse... LOL!!!

Bits for this Funny card are - Bazzill Cardstock, Flourish read all about PP, My Minds Eye Tree, Chipboard letters, 7 Gypsies paper tab, strip journaling made on the computer, brad, pigment pen, and my sewing machine.
Make sure you pop by the Daring Card Makers Blog, and look at the other lovelies there...
So have you dared to DARE yet........ COME ON I DARE YOU!!!!!!

Thanks A Bunch

Posting this card today to someone special....
Thankful supplies for this card are - Cardstock, Rachel Greig Stamp, Collections chipboard tile frame, mjs designs paper flower, sculpey flower made by me, brad, check ribbon from spotlight,Versa magic Ink pad - Jumbo Java. & my sewing machine....

DCM's weekly dare - Daring with the Speshal Girls..

This week at Daring Card Makers we're joining forces with the wonderful team of Scrapbookers over on the Everyones is Speshal blog. We're daring each other & you to make a
Really Romantic Scrapbook Layout - BUT ON A CARD!!
Scrapbookers are challenged to downsize your usual 12 x12" LO onto a teeny weeny one - maximum of 6x6", which can be sent safely through the mail.
Cardmakers - you're used to working on a small space, and you know all about the ribbons, brads & other bits & bobs - but can you take on board the other touches that are used on a scrapbook page - the Titles, Journaling, & Photo's?
Ok, here's my Gorgeous Husband in my take on this weeks Dare, Have to say I did get the giggles a few times making this, and love having him look into my eyes the whole time I created this... LOL!!!!
Wonderful Bits I've used for this Luvey Duvey Card of my Main Man are - Treasures Cardstock, A Big Photo I printed onto sketch paper, Uraban Lily Printed Paper,
Frenceville Buttons, Crochet cotton to stitch the buttons on with, K&Co Stickers to go 'wonderful you', Bella Chipboard Cookiez 'A', Versa mark ink to ink the letter(as I hate painting chipboard I usually ink whenever I can, and my sewing machine..
The little heart is made by just randomly cutting circles out of the printed paper then running them through the xyron and attaching onto the photo, I drew a heart with a pencil and just made sure that they overlapped each other then stitched through the circles to give it a finished look...
So be sure to check out what the other DCM's & the SPESHAL GIRLS have come up with...
Have you Dared to DARE yet!!!! Maybe this one's the one for you!
COME ON I DARE YOU!
