Joy be yours this Christmas...

This image is from the front of a sweet little Christmas card
sent to my Grandmother from her cousin Louisa in 1914.
I thought you may like to save it and print it off for your personal use.
I just love the greeting and hope that
Joy be yours this Christmas,

circle series....

 No.9
 No.8
More brooches = time spent with colour,
fabrics, thread and my machine.
= creative enjoyment.

I decided that the brooches needed to be part of a series
the title
- the circle series -
seemed the only choice.
Each time I make one it seems a little different to the last,
yet they all have the same 'family resemblance'
I love that about other peoples craft/art/style
and I have noticed it about my own creations when
I 'play' like I have been with these brooches.
It reminded me of an Artwork I came upon after clicking through
a link on Pinterest this week
by Lisa Congdon on her blog
Please have a look at it Here

Have fun creating your own visual style ;)

more fun with brooches...

this one was for a friend who requested a dark red version

and this little one is for a special young man in my home who said
'mum, do you think you could make me a badge for my satchel'
Mr L has a satchel he takes to church each week to carry his bible, sketch book etc...and he puts cool badges on it, so I felt quite honoured that he asked for one ;)
well, I thought 'ok', but I needed to make it a little more masculine and more like a badge than a brooch....The colours he requested were Red, Brown & Black....
(I added the grey, just using some of my artistic licence!)
and I decided to use a rusty pickles alphabet brad in the centre...I just trimmed the back pins a bit, pushed it through the first couple of layers, opened it up and sewed the next couple of layers  on and you cant see or feel the back of the brad.

*the brooches I have numbered are for sale in my madeit store :)

I'm also working on a couple of crochet rugs at the moment & a knitted baktus scarf, all three are rather large projects so these little brooches have been so much fun and it is nice to finish something in one creative session ;)

I hope you are having a beautiful day and can find some time to create

This week I relaunched my
Something I've been thinking about for a few months...
So over the next few weeks I will be adding items,
some familiar items like my brass & silver jewellery
and some new items
Like my Felt brooches :)
and maybe some crochet items in the near future.

I hope you are all having a creative day,

fabric & felt collage brooches...

I've been playing around a little with some of my fabric scraps, felt and my sewing machine...
and these little collage brooches are the end results.
made using layers of felt and fabric,
working the layers and stitching until I'm happy with the design.
The smallest is approx 5cm in diam
and the largest 6cm
I hand sewed some brooch backs on
and they are ready to wear :)
the best things are that they are light to wear
and I get to wear a little bit of 'art' when I go out!
Have a happy day
