It's a Date!

This is a ATC I've made for a challenge on a yahoo group I'm in... we had to use this Gorgeous image somehow on the ATC, and include some words...

well this is what I came up with...

She was actually holding a little clay pot, but I cut it out, cause I can almost imagine her moving her hand around as people do while in conversation while she was making this date! lol!

Gorgeous bits I've used for this ATC are - Image, Daisy D PP, Crafty Individuals CI-017 Script stamp, Artistree by Paper Forest Designs -Swirls Stamp, Catslife Press Grunge Date Stamp, Stampin Up Calendar Stamp, Catslife Press Crown Stamp, Maria George Crystal (they never show up pretty when scanned), Words are computer generated, Basic Grey Red PP,Versa Colour Charcoal, Black Embossing Powder & my sewing machine... Quite a lot of bits for one little ATC really, but it was fun to make :o)

My card is the one with the calendar stamp.

Random Stuff... and 7 bits of Random stuff.... Oh you make me laugh.... really you do... Well here goes....
1. Last week we bought a new car, a Toyota Echo and it's black, and super cute... it looks like a pregnant rollerskate
2. I create in my garage.... Yes that's right...you read that right my garage...it's actually quite good, I can make lots of mess and it really doesn't matter.
3. I started crafting at around 4 years of age, and have tried most things, I can Tat, Crochet, knit, sew, decoupage, embroider in most ways, I've patchworked, quilted, made Pottery, and there are probably plenty more things I can write here,

but that'll do... cause really my passion is Paper!
4. I have one brother and he's a good bloke
5. My Home town is Inverell NSW Australia
6. I am 5'3'' tall...
7. Next month it will be two years since I had breast surgery to remove an abnormality and two lumps from my brest, so MAKE SURE YOU SELF EXAMINE GIRLS!!!!!... AND YOU'LL BE HAPPY LIKE ME!!!! :O)

This is a card I made last night for a challenge at Ink-Stains, what a doozey of a challenge Kim set us, we had to make a card with only one layer, Use Rubber Stamps and only one embellishment... Gulp!!!.. anyway here is my card.. With our challenges at Ink-Stains, it's quite fun, we do a Challenge/Mingle... which means everyone in the challenge sends there card onto someone else in the challenge... it's so much fun to give and receive these cards :o)

Delightful bits I've used for this one layered card are - Autumn Leaves Doodle bloom stamps, Stampin Up Delight in Life Stamp, Cardstock, Distress Ink Pad - aged mahogony, clear embossing powder, white gel pen, some lace left over from my Ruby St Design Kit, and my sewing machine.

DCM little extra - Primary Colours

For Daring Cardmakers little extra this week,

we are daring you to make a card using the 3 Primary Colours,

RED, BLUE & YELLOW....You can either use 1, 2 or all three of these colours it's up to you..Thankfully Kathy let us use a bit of black & white is also LOL!

Oh dear.... i think I've caught the *GRUNGE* bug!....

seems that way after this card anyway...lol

but boy did I ever have fun, I got all painty.. and messy.. and got embossing powder everywhere....

Now I'm not silly I know this card wont be to everyones liking, but I like it ;o)

And I've decided I'm going to turn it into a little Drawing book for Lachlan, I'm just going to add some pages for him, with one of those metal slide fasteners.

A Gift From A Friend :)

I woke up this morning, had my breakfast, packed the kids lunches, it was their first day back after holidays today... then I decided before school I would just check my emails, I always get a buzz out of checking my emails, so many of you lovely ladies leave me the most delightful comments.. Thankyou!

But this morning was different...

I had a lovely surprise...

my lovely, lovely friend Flower made me a surprise.

She made this beautiful new Banner for me...

Isn't it wonderfully Beautifull!.. I cried I don't mind telling you....

This is one of the most delightful RAK's I've ever received,

and each time you see my banner,

think about how wonderful FRIENDSHIP is...

DCM weekly dare - Fun, Funky, Fabulous FELT...

This week at Daring Cardmakers,

it was my turn to set the dare,

as you may have noticed felt is really hot in the crafting world at the moment, and it's available in so many ways now, in sheet form in a rainbow of colours, precut shapes, beautiful felt borders, even lovely patterned felt and felt with glitter...
So I reckon it's a great medium to dare you with.
So here's the dare, Make a card and include some felt,
the theme & style are entirely up to you,

Wednesday Stamper

this was a Great Challenge for me, as I haven't done 'Grunge' as such before, well I guess I've dabbled a little.. but boy was this fun!!!!!... so here she is, my little grungy Whisper Angel...

something I quite like doing and have done on this little ATC was rub over the card with Watermark ink then lightly sprinkle embos powder and heat, I think this gives quite a good grunge look.

Grungy bit's I've used are - Image from Art-e-zine, Daisy D PP which I have used Distress Ink -aged mahogany in the technique taught by Isa in the post below, 7 Gypsies Whisper stamp, Stampin up Aged to perfection stamp on the bg, heidi Swapp gems, white acrylic paint, Artchix Studio Wings, Versa Mark black & watermark ink, Ebony Embos Powder, and my sewing machine...

A jolly ride to the beach....

I found a challenge on Isa's Blog, and I've decided to join in, you know, I've got some new stamps and I was feeling like they needed a good inking!... You can read all about the challenge here and how to do this cool technique... I really like this look, now to buy some other Distress Ink colours... I only have Walnut Stain... so that's what I used. Thanks heaps Isa for sharing your knowledge, I love this new technique and I'm sure I'll use it heaps.

It also fits the Wednesday Stamper Challenge for this week so this will be my second ATC for the Auto theme this week, the first is here

DCM little extra - Home Sweet Home

For our little extra this week at

Daring Cardmakers

Home Sweet Home is the theme. I was quite please actually, cause I always feel like I should give people a 'new home' card when they move, and never get around to it, so at least I'll be prepared the next time a friend moves...lol! This is actually a very economical card to make. because if you didn't have the stamps I've used or something similar you could just draw simple flowers like these.

I made up the little verse, because when we bought our home, the garden was such a draw card for us... I just love it!

Bits I've used for this card are - Bazzill Cardstock, Autumn Leaves doodle bloom stamps (these are new and I just love them... you'll be seeing them a bit I think on my work...),white gel pen, Black ink, computer generated words and my sewing machine...

Girly bits I've used are - Fancy Pants PP, Pressed Petal Metal word (giggle), Big Blossom -uknown, Paper Blossoms - Unknown, Urban Lily Chipboard Circle, zig pen, oh yes and you guessed it my sewing machine...

Little tip for you today, instead of matting photo's try stitching like I have here, around the outside edge of your photo's, using the edge of the foot of your machine as a rough guide, stitch randomly and with multiple rows of stitching for a 'funky' look... also I've used the same pp for the journaling just sanded the edges to make them stand out a bit. TTFN Gillian :o)

Make a card that celebrates and reflects a festival from another culture to your own....

here are some ideas to get you started:

Chinese New Year, Eid, Hanukkah, Persian New Year, Diwali, Sinhalese New Year, Kwanzaa, St. Patrick's day, So you get the idea....

I decided that my card would be a 'thanksgiving' card, always loved the idea of 'thanksgiving' after seeing many American movies and TV shows featuring this Holiday.. Love the way families come together.

But boy was this tricky... I don't know why, just couldn't get the 'turkey' colours out of my head... everything I reached for seemed to be in these colours maybe it's got something to do with all the Cartoons I saw as a kid of people fattening up their Turkey's for Thanksgiving..lol!

I was Thankful to have these supplies to make my card - Bazzill Cardstock, Daisy D PP, Cheapy Blossom, BMuse Reproduction Image (thanks Pearl), Stampin Up stamp from 'Aged to Perfection' set, EK Success Alphabet Stamps, Buckle I made from chipboard, K&Co PP used through the buckle & for the strip journaling, black flower ribbon, Versa mark Black Ink & my sewing machine.

So I made this little ATC... I've been playing a bit with sewing and then painting over the stitching, I quite like this look and thought it sort of looked like a road map, quite suited really for this theme.

DCM little extra - Recipe

For your 'little extra' at Daring Cardmakers

this week, we've got a little recipe for you to use.

You need to use 5 Circles, 3 Squares & 1 Flower

This is how I used the recipe, I look forward to seeing how you do..

If you are wondering about my circles they're there, you just need to look hard..

Some are in the form of those beautiful little diamante's sent to me by Kim.

Expressive bit's I've used on my card are - Bazzill Cardstock, Urban Lilly PP (for the squares and the words), Urban Lily chipboard circle, Diamante, PVA glue to stick them on, and of course my machine.

little tip for you today - when sewing in straight lines if you aren't the straightest stitcher or you accidentally sew crooked, just do a few extra rows over the top of what you have already sewn. This gives your stitching a more random feel.

This card is a good example of this.

Just one look

Just thought I'd show you a set of 16 ATC's.

I recently was involved in a ATC Chain and this is what I came up with... It's just a bit of fun..

I had to make 6 and post to the names on the list..

but thought I'd send some back to the people I get one from as well..

I made this BG by wetting the Paper and then brushing ink over it, then sprinkling with salt, then sanding lightly IRL they have a 'glittery' appearance from the salt.

I was amazed at the variation of the colouring..

The stamps I've used are all Cats Life Press, and the words are computer generated.

Today's tip - Ok, so I really like strip journaling, and I quite like it cut up like this.. so when cutting it up, I treat it as strip journaling, I put a strip through the Xyron, then cut it up into smaller pieces, after it's sticky. It's saves a lot of mucking around trying to put so many little words through the Xyron.
