Block no.11....

Block no.11 in my
I made block #197 Fretwork
from the book
This wasn't too hard to make,
although for some reason I had to undo the light blue round several times I think it had something to do with the fact I was chatting while making it ;)
......................................................................

Like everyone around the world our hearts wept
when we heard about the earthquake in New Zealand,
We have been watching the heart breaking news unfold daily.
To all those in Christchurch, The Canterbury Region
and the entire country of New Zealand
our prayers and thoughts are with you.

May you find strength to cope in the days, months and years ahead xxx

I really liked the effect of the colours on this block :-)
Heartbreaking for everyone what happened in Christchurch. Here in England they continue the news coverage and hope to find more people.

I love Jan Eaton's book! What a neat idea to make each of her squares into a blanklet! I have her book but haven't tried making one of her squares yet. Now you have inspired me....maybe one in Christmas colors???

The green, blue gray combination is gorgeous. Your words in reference to the earthquake are so kind and heartfelt. Made me take a moment to think about what's really important.

Hey Gillian, do you pick your own colours or are they colours in the book? I am very tempted to buy the book.

Thank you all so much x

Sandy, A Christmas coloured blanket would be lovely, Great idea!!!
Unfortunately we dont have much of a need for blankets here in Australia at Christmas time for warmth as of course it's our summer, but I can imagine it would be lovely decorating touch :)

My SINFONIA, The book does give some colour combination advice and some blocks have different versions of the same block in different colour ways.
For my blocks I purchased a 'family' of yarn that were designed to go together (hope that makes sense) I am using Cleckheaton Country 8ply & Cleckheaton Country Naturals 8ply, they are beautiful to use and come in many matching colours. I found them at Spotlight. But of course most yarns have 'families' of colours that are designed to use together, which makes colour matching so much easier ;)

hope this helps,
Gillian :)

Thanks Gillian...that helps because I would be spending hours in Spotlight trying to find the right colour combinations, which is what is holding me back. The thought of making small squares is appealing. I can take the square i am working on anywhere! You are getting to 200. Can't wait to see what you come up with! YM
